I would like to give some advice to new guitar players and old alike, I would like to say I am not the best nor worst guitar player, and the advice I am giving is from my own experience. Disclaimer: I won't be giving any tabs or explanation of what to play. This is in no way complete, and, full disclosure, this is a [X-(re)post] (http://www.reddit.com/r/guitarlessons/comments/9zjd6/beginners_guitar_my_advice/) of my own work from 7+ years ago, with updates. And I have not changed the links, so... I saw somebody bitching about how there's not enough discussion here. I love discussion. The :tl;dr is figure your stuff out so that you can enjoy your guitar more. It's not hard. Because this forum is comprised of people of all ages and skill levels, I'm not going to assume everybody knows this stuff. I want to make a confession that may help somebody else. I've been playing guitar for most of my life, and I didn't know jack about guitar necks until the last couple of years. (I'm almos...
I've tried to register a copyright to my [guitar music theory posters](https://www.etsy.com/listing/696505912/printable-guitar-theory-reference?pro=1) that I designed. The copyright registration was denied due to a 'lack of necessary authorship' even though I made the posters from scratch. I'm guessing this was because the posters contain designs that are common in music theory, such as the circle of fifths, note diagrams of the guitar neck, etc. However, I designed these posters from scratch, w...

Guitar neck notes diagram. Recently had an epiphany regarding scales on guitar, and thought I'd put it into writing. Originally this was just for myself to flesh out the concept, but thought it would be worth sharing as I've been using it with great success. It's 20 pages but a lot of it is diagrams, and it is worth the half hour to read in my opinion :) You can find the PDF here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1X2AQADwnnelfKMfU9j9t9RD4sqhG6oGA/view?usp=sharing The concept is to break scales into the most basic compon... So I've been meaning to write this up for a while, and saw someone's post asking about how to learn chords all over the neck, so I figured I'd do it now. First of all, it helps if you know the major scale all over the neck. If not, then you could just look up a [fretboard diagram](https://www.solfej.io/scales/c-major) to cheat with. (Simplest to just do it in C. Transposing is easy on guitar.) Start by organizing the strings into 4 sets of 3 adjacent strings. E-A-D, A-D-G, D-G-B, G-B-E. For the...

Hey guys I decided to replace the electronics in my guitar, because they weren't working properly anymore. Finding the new parts wasn't difficult, and installing them wasn't either. Unfortunately I am a bit confused about the way I am supposed to wire up stuff. I also apolozige in advance if this post is a bit longer. I try to keep it as short as possible. As an added note: The middle pickup is a SD Vintage Hot Stack Single Coil. I didn't write the full name on my diagram.   Where I... hi! just to help with getting the gist of this post: 1st paragraph is to give some background insight. 2nd paragraph is what i need/the question. thanks! im new to guitar and just started trying to learn about a month or two ago on and off. i initially tried to learn from youtube lessons and learning apps and then tried to learn songs i enjoyed by copying hand positions from guitar covers on youtube, but unfortunately i ended up getting bored and running out of motivation pretty quickly (i have... TL;DR at the bottom but read the whole thing for a good understanding of what I am getting at.** After only a short time of playing guitar, I ran into the problem lots of other beginners have ran into: barre chords. Notes buzzing, having to press REALLY hard, inconsistency, and so many other things make the technique so damn difficult. I've owned an acoustic for a few years now and had a lot of fun just looking up tabs for parts that I thought would be fun. I also recently bought a telecaster. I learned some of the more overplayed riffs/parts/songs from bands like the Beatles, Nirvana, Metallica, etc. Nothing too complex. Songs like blackbird, polly, the intro to One, a bunch of other stuff. But to me, this just seems like memorizing where to put your fingers ...

Hi there. I'm completely new to the world of animation and could really do with some advice. It's something I've just stumbled into in the process of setting up a Youtube channel for guitar tuition, when I decided I wanted to include diagrams of the fretboard, with notes animating themselves in and out as I explain things, or highlighting when I'm playing things. I've so far been using exclusively free software, with varying degrees of success. I started making the diagrams in GIM...

The first 3 paragraphs are for beginners, so if you want the songs and tabs you should skip them. Guitar has been a passion of mine for a while, around 3 years now. Guitar for me is incredibly relaxing (unless I'm practicing something and I *keep messing it up*). Aside from that, I use guitar as a way to wind down and just play some music. That could mean anything from messing around trying to make a nice melody to playing something that someone's already written. In this article I will list...

Welcome to our first GUITAR lesson on /r/LearnMusicWithPaul We will be starting from the basics and using some of the older lessons to connect some ideas! I came up with this universal 3-notes-per-string-diagram for the Harmonic Minor scale and its corresponding modes. I’ve been playing guitar for over 30 years, and two of the best things I learned that helped me advance my playing and fretboard knowledge are 3NPS scales and thinking in modes and intervals, rather than only specific key signatures. The guitar is a transposing, pattern-oriented instrument, so these tools I find to be the most fundamental [Harmonic Minor 3NPS modes master diagram...
